Live in the Winelands for less than you expect

This generously-proportions family home set on 1200sqm, is on the market in De Wijnlanden estate outside Stellenbosch, through Pam Golding Properties.  Priced at R4.5 million, the property includes five bedrooms, four bathrooms and a double garage, as well as large entertainment areas flowing out onto an undercover patio and pool.

With more and more people opting out of the rat-race and seeking a more tranquil way of life outside of the large urban areas, the appeal of secure lifestyle estates in a country setting is growing exponentially.

The Boland town of Stellenbosch has several such estates on its fringes, which are proving to be ideal homes for young families, retirees or those seeking lock-up-and-go weekend or holiday homes.

“All this creates a safe and peaceful environment for families to relax in and children to play in,” says Varga.  “De Wijnlanden has also attracted a number of more mature buyers who have downscaled from larger homes and enjoy the tranquil environment, while still remaining close to their beloved Stellenbosch.  The town itself is just a few minutes’ drive away, while Cape Town International Airport can be reached in just 10 minutes.  

This makes it ideal for commuting businesspeople as well – either those working in Cape Town or even those wishing to relocate their families to the Cape while continuing to work in Gauteng.  De Wijnlanden is also extremely suitable for ‘swallows’ who want to spend the European winter here, as they can have total peace of mind about the security of their home when it is not in use.”

This three-bedroomed home in De Wijnlanden estate is on the market at R2.65 million, exclusively through Pam Golding Properties.  The 600sqm property includes a double garage and offers spectacular mountain views.

PGP’s MD for the Boland and Overberg regions, Annien Borg, adds that the estate has been sensitively developed using modern Cape vernacular architecture as its design theme, and with indigenous gardens, vines and olive groves to complement the stunning mountain backdrops.  “But what is most appealing of all is the excellent value for money on offer,” she says.  “One can still obtain a substantial family home with a decent garden and three bedrooms, for under R2 million rand.  

And even larger and more luxurious homes can be obtained around the R2.5 million to R3 million mark.  In fact, our most expensive home for sale in the estate is just R4.5 million – this, for a huge five-bedroomed home with enormous entertainment areas, set on 1200sqm of land.  When one considers property prices in Stellenbosch and security estates in general, it really is a superb value proposition.”

PGP is currently marketing 14 homes in De Wijnlanden, ranging from a three-bedroomed home on 680sqm at R1.86 million, to the aforementioned R4.5 million home, and several four-bedroomed homes with their own swimming pools, priced from around R2.3 million to R2.9 million.  The estate also has an associated apartment complex alongside it, where apartments are available from just R525 000 for a one-bedroomed 49sqm unit.
